15th Annual Dandelion Festival
Dandelions take center stage on May 4th for the 15th Annual Dandelion Festival in Rotary Park. From 1 - 9 pm, the free events will host food, music, arts & crafts vendors, a dandelion beer garden, dance performances, live painting, educational activities, and much more! Centered around honoring community health, these flowers, organic land stewardship, and joy, this is a rain or shine event.
Cinco De Mayo
Durango, Colorado is one of the three international “Durangos”, the other two in Spain and Mexico. With roots in Mexican culture, Cinco de Mayo is celebrated at many locations in Southwest Colorado on May 5th. Zia Cantina is hosting their annual party from 2 - 9 pm with food, drinks, music, and fun! Gazpacho is also hosting a Cinco de Mayo celebration featuring Sensacion, a Mexican rock & roll, country, and spanish band. The show starts at 5 pm and there will be food and drinks for all to enjoy.
Mother’s Day
Celebrated on May 12th, there are some fun Mother’s Day activities in Durango for the whole family. Sun Sapphires Glass Art & Fine Jewelry is hosting a Mother’s Day Fused Glass Class from 11 am - 1:30 pm. Mimosas, juice, and hand crafted glass pieces will surely create lasting memories. Hosted from 1 - 3 pm at Create Art & Tea, the Mommy, Me, and KitTEA party will include a high tea, lunch, desserts, craft activities, and adoptable kittens. This outing supports the La Plata County Humane Society and The Art Guild of Create Art & Tea, two of our community’s great nonprofits! Primi Pasta & Wine Bar’s Mother’s Day Wine Experience Soiree delivers delicious wine and savory bites. From 3 - 5 pm there will be chair massages, henna, and more fun activities with all proceeds benefiting For Love & Babes, a local nonprofit.
